With Mum’s fridge, there was always hope.

Psalm 36:1-12

Reference: They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights. (Psalm 36:8 NIV)

Explore: Ever since we went to boarding school, I loved coming home. Mum’s house was always friendly and familiar. And the biggest difference was that the fridge was always full!

The boarding house fridge really only had milk and jam in it, and when I moved out of home, I must say that my own fridge wasn’t stocked much better! But with Mum’s fridge, there was always hope. Hope you’d find some left over dinner, dessert or at least some delicious cheeses.

Application: When the Psalmist speaks about God’s house, I can’t help but think it would be similar to the house I grew up in.  It was safe and loving and we were so incredibly blessed.

The older I have got and the more people I have met, the more I have understood how blessed I was. Sure, a full fridge doesn’t mean a saintly home, however, it represents the health and abundance that we have in God.

We all have access to God’s “fridge”. It may not be via the wealth of this world, but we know that His door is always open and His house is always safe and loving.

Prayer: Lord God, thank You for the abundance of love and peace. You share with us. May we create spaces of heaven in our own homes, so that others can also experience Your blessing. Amen.

How can you bring some of God’s home into your day today?
