It’s like a simple bit of Photoshopping that she does with images in no time at all.

Isaiah 4:1-6

Reference: v.5 Then the Lord will create over all of Mount Zion and over those who assemble there a cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by night; over everything the glory will be a canopy. (NIV Bible)

Explore: There are some amazing things you can do with photography these days. You don’t even need an expensive camera to put cool filters onto an image.

A friend of mine has this special application on her iPhone where she is able to brighten the colours of photos, put cool borders around them, and smooth over any flaws. It’s like a simple bit of photoshopping that she does with images in no time at all.

It’s incredible to see the difference this filter makes on a photo. What starts out looking like a normal kind of image ends up looking like a magazine shot.

Application: When Isaiah went to speak to the Israelites they were in a pretty bad place.  They had turned away from God and were now being defeated by their enemies.

It seemed like a long time had passed since those days when God had protected them in the desert. And yet, God was still there for them.

Isaiah reminded them that the Lord still had the ability to create a covering over his people.

God’s ‘canopy’ is like a filter on a camera – He makes everything brighter and is willing to cover any flaws. We don’t deserve a better picture, but God wants what is best for us and is always there to cover us.

The remarkable thing about God is that He is willing to cover us even when we feel grey and dirty. He brings light and depth to our lives and makes all things new.

Prayer: Lord, there are times when our days feel grey and drab.  May we look to you for the light that can brighten our day. Amen.

What colour would your day be today?
