Finding The Right Gift
Main article content
I wish I could find the one present that would sum up my appreciation.
Reference: ““Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from everyone whose heart prompts them to give.” Exodus 25:2 NIV
Explore: It’s coming up to my best friend’s birthday and I can’t think what to get her. Buying gifts is certainly not my main love language, but I would still like to get her something special.
She has been so supportive of me, particularly over the last few years which have been a real rollercoaster ride. She’s the type of person who would go out of her way to help me and I wish I could find the one present that would sum up my appreciation.
I’m really happy to spend a significant amount of money on her. When you find a best friend as good as this one you do whatever it takes to show them how much you love them.
Application: As I reflect on how great my best friend is I can’t help but realise how much greater God is to me. My friend is amazing but nothing can compare to the love God has given for all of us.
If you had to buy God a birthday present, what would it be? What do you give the one who has everything?!
God doesn’t ask for one significant gift every year. I find our commitment to faith inspires us to give a little to God every single day.
When we give a little time, a little of our finances, a little generosity to others it all amounts to a large appreciation to our God. Let’s face it, there’s never anything we could give God that would repay His generosity to us. But all He asks for is that we give ourselves to Him in all we do.
Prayer: Lord, You have given us so much. There’s nothing we could do to repay You. May You accept our small offerings and recognise our hearts of appreciation. Amen.
What gift could you give God today?
