If I was to sit around a table with five incredibly impressive people then I’m not sure I would know what to say to them.

2 Chronicles 7:1-22

Reference: When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the Lord above the temple, they knelt on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshipped and gave thanks to the Lord, saying,
“He is good; His love endures forever.”

Explore: If you could have five people over for dinner – any five people who have existed throughout history – who would you invite?

When asked this question, some people will choose their favourite rock star, others mention family who have passed away, and others speak of people in history who have inspired them. I always struggle to think of whom I would like to have a meal with.

If I was to sit around a table with five incredibly impressive people then I’m not sure I would know what to say to them.  I’d hate to be so star struck by my guests that I’d be mute!

Application: People pay thousands of dollars to come face-to-face with their biggest heroes and yet, struggle to piece two words together when they meet them. It’s often hard to put into words what someone else means to you.

I think this would be the case if I came face-to-face with God. What do you say to someone who holds the power of the universe in one hand, and yet, on the other hand, knows you intimately?!

When the Israelites came face-to-face with the power of God in 2 Chronicles, they all bowed down and said, “He is good; His love endures forever.” I guess this would be a good start when it comes to meeting with God.

While I’m not sure exactly what I would say to God, I hope that my first reaction would be to praise my incredible Creator.

Prayer: Lord, we are able to see Your wonder in many ways here on earth. May we take every opportunity to declare how good You are and not wait until we see You face-to-face. Amen.

If you met God face-to-face today, what would you say to Him?
