Although I have followed God all my life, I don’t have all the answers

Ecclesiastes 1:1-18

Reference: v.3 What does anyone gain from all their labours at which they toil under the sun? (TNIV Bible)

Explore: As an additional part of our church life, we lead a small group during the week.  Recently, we’ve had someone join who has only started to explore God and faith.  Some might think that having someone so new to Christianity would hold all us long-term believers back, but it’s quite the opposite.  Every week we look forward to the questions this new believer brings, as it pushes us to give ‘real’ answers, rather than just Christian clichés.  It has also been a great reminder for us of what it is like for people who are searching, and the similar questions they must be having as well.

Application: When I read through Ecclesiastes, I am reminded that it’s not just the new believers who have significant questions.  Although I have followed God all my life, I don’t have all the answers to the questions that are brought up in small group.  In fact, I don’t have many answers to the questions that run around in my head! But my security always comes back to my firm faith that there is a loving God and He sent His son, Jesus, as an example of how we should live.  There are thousands of questions around that, some I feel I have worked through, some I feel I will only discover when I’m in Heaven, but none that can sway me from my belief in God.

Prayer: Lord, we all have questions.  May the journey towards their discovery bring us closer to You. Amen.

What question do you struggle to find an answer for?
