Major events don’t happen every day

Exodus 14:1-31

Reference: “That day the Lord saved Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore.”‭ Exodus‬ ‭14:30‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Explore: Some days are bigger than others. Nothing shows this more than social media.

There are some people who post nearly every single day. Not surprisingly, major events don’t happen to people every day and so posts start getting rather mundane.

We hear about what people had for dinner, the person they saw on the train, how many kilometres they ran and so on and so on. I like to keep my posts to things that are more monumental, which means I don’t post very often at all!

Some days are just bigger than others.

Application: When I was reading through the Egyptian’s escape from Israel, I was struck by how significant this moment was. #IsraelitesescapeEgypt would definitely have been trending that day!

This is the moment that has been retold across the generations. This is the moment that was continually referred back to throughout many scriptures. This was the moment that screamed of God’s mighty saving hand.

Every now and again we experience grand moments like this in our own lives. These events are definitely worth proclaiming.

But it’s important to remember that God is alive and active in the boring and the mundane as well as the big and monumental. He was there as the Israelites escaped Egypt, but He was also there every single day of their 40 years in the desert.

He was there when they were back in slavery, He was there when the plagues invaded and He is there for us everyday too.

We may not always have a crossing of the Red Sea to write about, but we do have an ever-present God to be thankful for.

Prayer: Lord, no matter what our day may hold, You are there. Thank You for Your never ending love for us. Amen.

Where have you seen God in your life in the last day?
