On a Monday, when you ask a colleague about their weekend, they may not be actually telling you the truth!

Psalm 82:1-8

Reference: “How long will you defend the unjust and show partiality to the wicked? (‭Psalm‬ ‭82‬:‭2‬ NIV)

Explore: Today I heard that 30% of people lie about how good their weekend was. So, on a Monday, when you ask a colleague about their weekend, they may not be actually telling you the truth!

There is no doubt we look forward to the weekend, but not all Saturdays and Sundays are amazing. Sometimes our plans change or the weather’s not great or the kids play up… Not every weekend is A+.

But it seems we have to talk it up once we get to work. It seems strange to explain how basic our weekend was when we worked so hard to get there!

Application: I would say this is a general rule for our faith too. So often we talk it up and only share the amazing parts, and yet, there are some down times in our walk with God too.

The Psalmist certainly wasn’t shy about venting his thoughts about God. And yet, we clean up our true relationship with God when it comes to sharing our faith.

It’s not necessary and I think it is contrary to good evangelism. If we are honest about our faith experience then we will connect with more people than we realise.

Prayer: Lord, we all live for the ultimate life but there are times when things don’t seem to go our way. Help us to still be honest and transparent in those times so that people can see we live with integrity. Amen.

Share a time when you have struggled in your faith.
