Where Is God?
Main article content
This doesn’t mean we give up or give in to evil.
Reference: “My bones suffer mortal agony as my foes taunt me, saying to me all day long, “Where is your God?”” Psalm 42:10 NIV
Explore: I recently read a quote that went something along the lines of:
“People often ask: if there is a God why is there so much evil in the world?
Let me take this further. If there is soap in this world why are there still so many smelly people?”
While this is quite a humorous comment, it did make me stop and think. If everyone believed God and acted in a Christlike fashion then our world would be a much better place… I guess you would call it Heaven.
We are quick to point the finger at God when anything goes wrong or when evil is present. At some point we need to look around us and acknowledge the fallen world we live in.
This doesn’t mean we give up or give in to evil. It just means we have even more reason to seek out God in our lives.
Application: If you think people questioning God is a new thing, you just have to read through the Bible. Written thousands of years ago, it mentions in many psalms and through many stories people questioning “Where is your God?”
The answer is not an easy one to explain, or for people to hear. We cannot force our children, our loved ones or our friends to believe.
The best way I have found to answer this question is to show it through our lives. In displaying love, compassion and honesty in our relationships we can show the truth of God.
The bible is filled with people’s stories explaining their experiences of God. Let’s add our stories to the world to help people understand how great our God is.
Prayer: Lord, You have influenced our lives in incredible ways. May we share our love of You with those in our lives so they, too, can catch a glimpse of You. Amen.
How can you show people God is real?
