Reference: Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go; give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. (Psalm 71:3 NIV)
Explore: Last week I drove away from my childhood home, never to enter into it again.
96 Victoria St was the house I grew up in. It was here that my father taught me to ride a bike, where my mother taught me to bake and where my friends would come over to play.
This was the home where we celebrated Christmas every year with Granny’s antique crockery, the home I gladly returned to after weeks of homesickness at boarding school, and the place I brought my family to gain respite from the city.
This is the home where I cried my first tears from a broken heart and where I learned what it was to be a family. It was in this home that my father took his last breath.

Application: Life is full of constant change. We move homes, we change jobs and we grow older.
Thankfully one thing always remains, God. I may not be able to return to my childhood home but I can always go back to God.
He is steadfast and ever faithful. He doesn’t move away from us or hide from us. It doesn’t matter where we are, we can always connect to Him.
While things may change beyond my control, I am comforted by the constant presence of my loving, faithful Saviour.
Prayer: Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You are faithful and true. In my world of change I love that You remain with me through every season. Amen.
